MANILA — An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) was allegedly raped and beaten up before he was left for dead in a desert in Saudi Arabia.

“Jose” (not his real name) was found naked and covered in scrapes and bruises. He sustained head injuries, as well as several bone fractures. He is still in critical condition in an intensive care unit in Riyadh.

Junji Robles, Jose’s friend, was the first to identify the victim after several nurses in that hospital took photos of Jose and was posted on social networking sites.

“I was the first one to identify when somebody posted his picture asking for anyone to know Jose,” Jose said.

Jose, who just recently returned from the Philippines for another contract, was working in Saudi as a service crew of an ice cream parlor.
