BIR exec shot in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines – An executive of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) was shot and wounded Thursday night  in front of the Philippine Heart Center on East Avenue, a radio report said.

The report identified the victim as BIR Internal Investigation Division chief Daniel de Jesus. It added that the 46-year-old official was inside his sports utility vehicle when the two gunmen ambushed him.

De Jesus was hit on the right shoulder.

Police investigators are looking at the possibility that the ambush is work-related.
