Frontier Airlines offering lower, bare bones fares; carry on bags, selecting seat cost extra

DENVER – Frontier Airlines is lowering its fares, but passengers will have to pay fees for any extras beyond a seat on the plane.

Starting Monday, the Denver-based airline is cutting economy prices by an average of about 12 per cent.

Passengers will get to bring one item that fits under the seat, but will have to pay extra to either put a bag in the overhead bin or check a bag. They’ll also have to pay extra to select a seat in advance or to get a drink or food.

Passengers who want everything included can still buy a more expensive “classic plus” ticket.
