Teen charged with first degree murder after mom found dead in Ottawa home

OTTAWA – The teenaged son of an Ottawa woman found dead in her home has been charged with first-degree murder.
Police say Christopher Gobin, 18, is charged in connection with the death of Luce Lavertu, 49.

She was found with no vital signs by her husband at their east end home (on St. Bruno Street) on Tuesday.
Police say their investigation is continuing and no further information will be released.

The case is the city’s second homicide of the year.
