Roma has 2 sections of stadium closed for 2 matches after territorial chants by fans
ROME—Roma has had two sections of its stadium closed for two matches following anti-Neapolitan chants by the clubs’ fans.
The sections behind both goals, where the ultras sit, will be closed for Roma’s Serie A matches against Sampdoria and Inter Milan.
The sentence was announced Thursday after territorial chants of a discriminatory nature against Naples were heard during Roma’s victory over Napoli in the first leg of their Italian Cup semifinal the previous weekend.
Roma had been given a suspended sentence of a one-match ban back in October following insulting chants in its league match against Napoli.
Torino and both Milan clubs were also handed suspended sentences at the time.
Roma is second in the Italian league, nine points behind Juventus, which has played a game more.
