SILANG, Cavite—Vice presidential candidate Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said his attendance at the 36th Grand Alumni Homecoming of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) in Cavite on Saturday should not be viewed as politicking.

In an interview before the start of the event, the lawmaker noted that his presence in the such activity is being equate by his critics especially since he is running for public office in the forthcoming polls.

“Everything I do, since I’m a candidate, they could say it’s politicking. It’s something I do consistently; so it’s not something that I’m doing now only because it’s the campaign period. I come and attend regularly,” Marcos said.

On the other hand, he urged the people not to forget the sacrifices of the policemen in ensuring their protection and also of the nation.

Marcos made the call at the sidelines of the 36th Grand Alumni Homecoming of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) celebration held at the Camp Mariano Castañeda, Silang, Cavite.

“The police…we depend so much for the safety and security of the general public. It is always very important to remember the sacrifices that they made and the bravery and honor that they’ve shown in carrying out their duties,” he said.

Marcos was at the homecoming ceremony as an honorary member of the PNPA “Tagapagbuklod Class of ’89.”

At the same time, the independent vice presidential candidate is in Cavite for the continuation of his “Unity Caravan” in the Calabarzon.

Aside from Silang, Marcos will also visit Dasmariñas City, Tanza, General Trias, Rosario, Noveleta, Kawit and Bacoor.
